SimCADE v.2.0 - solidification software
SimCade v.2.0 is a computer program developped by Industrial Soft to simulate the solidification of molten metal. The program simulates cooling and solidification of metal in a mold so that the effects of the hot top and environmental conditions upon the solidification process can be examined before actual tooling.
I. Method of Analysis
The finite element method (FEM) is used to solve the heat transfer equation which takes into account the latent heat of the solidifying metal.
II. Simulation System
The system consists of three processors:
1) a preprocessor for a CAD drawing of the analysis model and automatic generation of the finite element mesh,
2) a simulator for the two- and three-dimensional solidification analyses, and
3) a postprocessor to display the results.
The software runs on computers compatible PC. Computer time is about 5 min to analyze a 10 000- node model.
System Requirements
Windows XP/Vista/WIndows 7
